Black History Month: My latest “Single”

Ha ha – that all sounds a bit high-flown! But it’s a song I was fortunate to have composed on a Songwriting campfire lead by Dan Whitehouse – an award-winning artist and excellent teacher and mentor together with Katie Whitehouse (no relation a mover and shaker in the Music Business and a great artist in her own right.

During the Songwriting session in particular all the participants we given the same subject Marshall “Major” Taylor  : World Champion Cycle Racer. We were guided through various techniques to produce a narrative song. It was both fun and challenging. I learned so much. All the songs were so different and I’m relieved to say my rendering of the life of “Major” was well received.  Phew! The song will be released through Soundcloud and will soon be available on all major streaming platforms.

I have a couple of narrative songs “on the easel” to which I will adopt the techniques to produce these songs (of people actually known to me – or me having a bit of an interest in some aspect of their lives) Watch this space when they are released into the world!

I have provided a link to the YouTube video I made in Davinci Resolve – the best free Videomaking software – Windows, MacOs and Linux. Also iOS – but I haven’t yet got that version to work on my iPad.

This coming weekend it is my beloved wife’s significant number Birthday. I composed the followingg song “I’m Glad Your Mine” to celebrate a birthday a few years ago and this too will be uploaded and released. I have to re-record it because I’ve lost the original project files and the YouTube is actually a lower-res MP3. So I will be recording a version to release probably next week.

I trust all is well with you all,

Your ole chum,

Roger
