Please read the whole of this post – I’ve Good News to share.
Tuesday 1st November; having survived the non-festival of Halloween I toddled down to the Royal Free to have the pump disconnected and its pipeline removed. Additionally a shed load of tests were to be carried out. My regular Clinical Trial Nurse Marvie is away taking well-deserved leave in the Philippines, back with her family, so I was in the capable care of her colleague, Claire. In reality they didn’t remove it that day – we have to wait until the 15th November. Also I still have the Bone Marrow Biopsy to endure (thrill me!). But read – on there’s good news! his is a bit like one of those crazy movie dramas that flip between time zones and timelines – total mystery unto me!
An original song of gratitude – that is – whatever I’m going through God’s got this! It was recorded earlier this year so pre-dates Trials and Tribulations! Thanks to my good Christian friend and counsellor, Alan Doherty, who added some nifty lead guitar with that beautiful Lowden. It was a bit of a remote recording project.
Good news! Well; excellent news that has made me jump ahead on the timeline of this narrative. As I now write – the CT Scan and Bone Marrow Biopsy (ouch!) have been completed. I think I will, just now, skip the latest tribulation of the flexible cystoscopy and the delights of my urinary system being held together with so much plastic and velcro(R). How can I save the planet when I’m filling landfill with used urinary items? Oh dear another paradox and dilemma.
Real good news and fortunately Kym was the recipient. Dr Jasani rang, with joy, to inform us there was now no cancerous cells in my Bone Marrow. Praise God! It was fantastic that Kym could share fabulous news as mostly I’ve been a sad, self-pitying git and wallowing in my “illness”. True in some some measure – but I am dealing with that.
So I (we) are a success story. I think I’m one of the few who lasted the trial and came out of the end with no cancer! Alleluiah!
So I thought I’d share the joy – before I sink back into the more familiar zone of considering what to do with my prostate – as I don’t want a catheter for the rest of my days.
Thanks to Dr Jasani, Marvie and the whole team of Nurses, Medics etc: most especially Kym – I’ve experienced some wonderful care.
Thanks for reading – award yourselves some joy – you deserve it after reading this whole Hampstead Blog!!!
Your mate, Roger

Cheers Lin, I hope you’re still doing well. I’m struggling along – but it’s more inconvenience than anything apart from some leg pains, but the leukaemia seems to have turned a corner for the better, thank God,
Happy Advent, love to all. RnK
Wonderful news to wake up to Roger!
Your faith, perseverance, humour, bravery, selflessness, trust and many more expletives, have guided you through this process and now you can return to ‘normal’ routines and life. Take care and I hope they can sort out all your ‘tubes’ very soon.
Love and prayers to you and Kym.
